This bench was built in memory of my grandfather by the community where he lived and volunteered many hours of his time. He was always manning the grill, flipping burgers, and refilling the beer at the annual barbecue in this park, among other endeavors. It had rained heavily in the days before this photo
I mentioned a few weeks back that I took a vacation to Grand Cayman in the beginning of the summer. What I didn’t also mention is that I went back in late August – but this time for work! I have a new freelance gig as an Investigator (photographer/writer) for Oyster.com. Owned
Blog! I’ve missed you! I am sorry I left you. The fact is, I got busy. I’ve been doing well with my freelancing work (and am very grateful for this), and mixed with enjoying summertime in the city, weekends away, and some travel, I have neglected AWR. I hope to post more

Oh hi…remember me? It’s been a crazy few weeks, but in the midst of it all, I had a little getaway to Montreal. And it was fun!
I know it is getting a little late to talk about winter getaways. The weather is slowly warming and there will be some spring blooms (flowers, really!) sprouting up soon. But there was a snowstorm just last week and March and April have their fair share of gross weather.
On this lovely day when New York is expected to get up to 15 inches of snow(!), I thought it would be a good idea to continue the winter getaway series. Let’s go to Mexico!
Yesterday I posted about why you should take a winter getaway, prefaced with gross pictures of New York in the winter. On Wednesday, the sidewalks were covered in 6 inches of slush that had turned brown. Lovely.
This was the view out my window for the past two weeks. This was the view down my block on Tuesday. This is Williamsburg, which is currently even uglier than usual. Seriously, New York is disgusting in the winter.
